Usability and Productivity
The Simcenter STAR-CCM+ client provides several features for an efficient, automatable, and extensible simulation framework.
- Custom Simulation Trees
- Allows you to create smaller, more manageable simulation trees from selected objects in the main tree. These custom trees are saved with the simulation file.
- Simulation Tree Comparison
- Provides a side-by-side comparison between two simulation files so that you can identify any differences.
- Field Functions
- Simcenter STAR-CCM+ supports an expression language by which you can create scalar, vector, or tensor functions that vary in space and time.
- Includes an expression editor with built-in functions, predictive typing, auto-complete, and a preview panel
- Parameters
- User-defined, spatially invariant scalar and vector constants. Also supports file paths. These parameters can be used in field functions and can be referenced from any expression. You can control parameter values during optimization studies inside Design Manager.
- Filters
- Filters, created from one or more logic-based queries, facilitate automation through repeatable object selection.
- Queries are built from predicates (conditional statements) that are applied to a set of objects
- Queries support Boolean operators (AND, OR) and can be nested
- Tagging
- Tags provide a mechanism for grouping objects in almost every part of the simulation. You can create custom trees and complex filters using tags.
- Simulation Templates
- Prepare a flexible blueprint simulation set-up and workflow using Tags, Filters, Query-Based Selections and Parameters, and insert geometries later.
- Simulation Operations
- Provides built-in automation framework. Several operation blocks are available including conditional branching, loop, and setting scalar parameters.
- Java Scripting
- The Simcenter STAR-CCM+ client journals all User Interface actions in a Java script. The client can playback these and other Java scripts.
- Teamcenter Share
- Simcenter STAR-CCM+ provides direct integration with Teamcenter Share through an embedded browser. You can download and open simulation files and related data that are shared on the Teamcenter Share collaboration platform.
