Accessing the Electronics Cooling Toolset

The Electronics Cooling Toolset is accessible by clicking a customized toolbar button in Simcenter STAR-CCM+.

To access the Electronics Cooling Toolset:
  1. Open Simcenter STAR-CCM+ and start a new simulation.
  2. In the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ menu, select Window > Toolbars > Customize.
  3. In the Customize Toolbars dialog, under the Wizards node, select Launch Electronics Cooling App.
  4. Drag the (Launch Electronics Cooling App) icon onto one of the toolbars at the top of the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ workspace and drop it at an appropriate position.
  5. In the Customize Toolbars dialog, click Close.
    The Simcenter STAR-CCM+ GUI now displays the (Launch Electronics Cooling App) button.
The Electronics Cooling Toolset provides an inherent file compatibility with Simcenter STAR-CCM+—all setup and solution data are stored within the .sim file.
Objective Procedure
Launching the Electronics Cooling Toolset
  1. Launch Simcenter STAR-CCM+ and click (Create a New Simulation).
  2. In the Create a New Simulation dialog, set the startup options to suit your requirements (see Interactive Startup Reference) and click OK.
  3. In the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ toolbar, click (Launch Electronics Cooling App).
  4. The Electronics Cooling Toolset dialog appears in which you can set up an electronics cooling simulation.
Loading an existing electronics cooling simulation
  1. Launch Simcenter STAR-CCM+ and click (Load Simulation...).
  2. In the Load Simulation dialog, click Browse....
  3. In the Open dialog, navigate to the working directory, select the appropriate .sim file, and click Open.
  4. Complete the Load Simulation dialog according to the properties described in Interactive Startup Reference and click OK.
  5. In the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ toolbar, click (Launch Electronics Cooling App).
Saving an electronics cooling simulation

You can save an electronics cooling simulation at any stage.

  1. Click (Save). The Save dialog that appears allows you to save a .sim file.
