Generating the Volume Mesh

Use the surface remesher and polyhedral volume mesher to create a mesh with a base size of 0.01 m, as the fluid solution is not of particular importance for this tutorial.

Use the following steps:
  1. Right-click the Geometry > Parts > blastFurnaceSurfaceMesh node and select Assign Parts to Regions....
  2. In the Assign Parts to Regions dialog, make sure that the blaskFurnaceSurfaceMesh part is selected, then select Create a Boundary for Each Part Surface in the second pull-down menu.
  3. Click Apply, and then Close.
  4. Right-click Geometry > Operations and select New > Mesh > Automated Mesh.
  5. In the Create Automated Mesh Operation dialog:
    1. In the Parts list, select blastFurnaceSurfaceMesh
    2. In the Select Meshers box, select the following meshers:
      Group Mesher
      Surface MeshersSurface Remesher
      Core Volume MeshersPolyhedral Mesher
  6. Select the Operations > Automated Mesh > Default Controls > Base Size node and set Value to 0.01 m.
  7. Click (Generated Volume Mesh) in the Mesh toolbar.
The output from the meshers is shown in the Output window. When the meshing process is complete, the message Volume Meshing Pipeline Completed is displayed in the Output window.
  8. Select Scenes > Geometry Scene 1 and set the Mesh Override property to Show All Meshes to see the surface mesh.

  9. Right-click Geometry Scene 1 and select Apply Representation to Displayers > Volume Mesh to see the volume mesh.

  10. Save the simulation.
