Loading the Starting File and Generating the Volume Mesh

You start this tutorial by loading a simulation file and generating the volume mesh.

Due to the increasing cell count during the solution stage, you are advised to launch the simulation in parallel mode on, for example, 12 cores.

  1. Open a double precision version of Simcenter STAR-CCM+ and select File > Load.
  2. In the Load a File dialog:
    1. Set Process Options to Parallel on Local Host and Compute Processes to 12.
    2. Click Browse.
    3. In the Open dialog, navigate to the compressibleFlow folder of the downloaded tutorial files and select the file HypersonicSphere_start.sim.
    4. Click Open, then OK.
To generate the volume mesh based on the specified mesh operations:
  1. Right-click the Geometry > Operations node and select Execute All.
To visualize the generated volume mesh:
  1. Right-click the Scenes > Geometry Scene 1 node and select Open.
  2. In the graphics window, right-click the background area and select Apply Representation to Displayers > Volume Mesh.
  3. Save the simulation as HypersonicSphere_run.sim.
