Simcenter STAR-CCM+ E-Machines Performance Workflow

The Simcenter STAR-CCM+ E-Machines Performance Workflow wizard allows you to import electric machine designs into Simcenter STAR-CCM+ for further analysis. For example, you can compute the 3D magnetic fluxes within the electric machine or set up a thermal analysis.

You can import electric machine designs in the form of a geometry definition file, prepared in one of two external programs—Simcenter SPEED and Simcenter Motorsolve. The file extension depends on the file version: .xGDF for version 1.7 (Simcenter SPEED only) and .xgdf for version 2.0.

Supported machine types include:

brushless permanent magnets (BDC)
wound field AC synchronous (BDC)
switch reluctance (SRD)
induction (IMD)
wound field commutator (WFC)

The following sections refer to geometry definition files as .xgdf files, regardless of the file version.
