Setting the Inlet and Outlet Boundary Conditions

At the inlet boundary of the tailpipe, you set a mass flow rate of 15 kg/s and a total temperature of 700 K. Reflections of acoustic disturbances emerging from the tailpipe need to be damped only next to the pressure outlet boundary that confines the computational domain. For this boundary, you enable fluctuation damping using a sponge layer.

To set the boundary conditions:
  1. Expand the Region_1 > Boundaries > Pipe Inlet > Physics Values node and set the following properties:
    NodePropertyValue
    Mass Flow RateValue0.15 kg/s
    Total TemperatureValue700.0 K
  2. Select the Region_1 > Boundaries > Pressure Outlet > Physics Conditions > Sponge Layer Option node and activate Enable Sponge Layer.
  3. Save the simulation.
