Surface Repair Tools Brake Assembly

Simcenter STAR-CCM+ provides a suite of tools to help you prepare surface geometry so that it is ready for meshing. This tutorial provides an introduction to some of these tools, using the example of a brake assembly.

Volume meshers in Simcenter STAR-CCM+ take a closed surface mesh as their input. Errors in the surface mesh have a direct impact on the success of the volume meshers, and on the quality of the resulting mesh.

Geometry that is imported from CAD is often not prepared for CFD analysis. The imported geometry can have unconnected parts, zero-thickness surfaces, and other defects such as gaps and holes.
