Exploring Solutions with Data Focus
This interactive tool lets you extract knowledge of merit -- information that facilitates a correct engineering decision -- from a large volume of data.
Data focus is a method to explore and interrogate data so that you can answer questions such as the following:
- How do I locate unburned fuel in areas with high local temperatures, where the fuel would be expected to burn?
- In a fairly complex combustion flow, what are the effects of local mixing (through turbulence or through the geometry of the device itself) on products and reactants?
- Contrary to expectations, are there areas with both a high residence time and a high flow speed? If so, where?
- Can bubbles promote better mixing by enhancing the local turbulence? If so, where?
The data focus technique in Simcenter STAR-CCM+ is linking and brushing. After setting up plots and scenes, select one or more portions of a plot to define criteria of interest. To visualize the data that match your criteria, link the plots to scenes.
