After installing Simcenter STAR-CCM+, you can access documentation and tutorials on the Support Center or within the installation.
Simcenter STAR-CCM+ Licensing
Simcenter STAR-CCM+ is licensed software that operates according to license feature keys that it checks out from the license management system. Apart from the default mode, you can launch Simcenter STAR-CCM+ in Read-only Mode, Lite, Power Session, and Power on Demand.
STAR-CCM+ Add-on Modules
Simcenter STAR-CCM+ automatically checks out any license that it needs for add-on modules.
Working with the Add-on Licensing Manager
Licenses for the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ add-on modules can be managed through the Add-on Licensing dialog.
Reserving a License
Add-on licenses can be configured so that they are automatically checked out when a Simcenter STAR-CCM+ session is started.

Getting Started
After installing Simcenter STAR-CCM+, you can access documentation and tutorials on the Support Center or within the installation.
- Context-Sensitive Search
  From within the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ interface, you can launch a combined search of the resources available in the Support Center and the online help. The resources include knowledge base articles and videos and submissions on Simcenter STAR-CCM+ Ideas.
- Accessing Help
  The Simcenter STAR-CCM+ documentation is provided in two formats, HTML and PDF. The PDF file can be found within the doc directory of your Simcenter STAR-CCM+ installation.

  The Options dialog is used to control a number of global options in Simcenter STAR-CCM+. The choices you make are stored in a properties folder that is unique for each version of Simcenter STAR-CCM+ you run on your machine.

Reserving a License

Add-on licenses can be configured so that they are automatically checked out when a Simcenter STAR-CCM+ session is started.

This option is useful when a certain add-on module is regularly used and can ensure that a license is always available when you need it.

Note	A reserved license is released when the simulation file is closed.

To reserve an add-on license:

Select Tools > Options from the menu bar.

A dialog displaying the various options for Simcenter STAR-CCM+ appears. This dialog can also be accessed when no Simcenter STAR-CCM+ session is active.
Expand the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ node and select Licensing.

The pane in the right-hand side of the dialog displays the reserve options for each add-on.
Ticking these checkboxes and clicking Close will place a reserve on the respective add-on modules, so that the corresponding licenses will be automatically checked out next time a Simcenter STAR-CCM+ session is started.
To release a license, manually check it in by clearing the respective checkbox in the Add-on Licensing dialog.
