Gap Closure in Surface Wrapper: Drone Main Body
When using the surface wrapper for geometries that have feature-level holes or gaps, you can find that the core wrapper is unable to cover the whole surface with a closed wrap. To assist, Simcenter STAR-CCM+ provides a gap closure option that detects and fills these larger voids in the surface.
Importing the Geometry
To set up the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ simulation, launch a simulation and import the geometry files provided.

Importing the Geometry

To set up the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ simulation, launch a simulation and import the geometry files provided.

Launch Simcenter STAR-CCM+.
Start a simulation.
Select File > Import > Import Surface Mesh...
In the Open dialog, navigate to the mesh folder of the downloaded tutorials bundle.

Select droneLower.x_t and droneUpper.x_t then click Open.
In the Import Surface Options dialog, deactivate the Merge Parts by Name option and click OK.
Save the simulation as droneGapClosure.sim.
To define and store a convenient view:
1. Click the Scene/Plot tab.
2. Rename the Geometry Scene 1 scene to Drone Geometry.
3. Select the Drone Geometry > Surface 1 node and set Color Mode to Distinguish Inputs.
4. In the Vis toolbar, click (Save-Restore-Select Views).
5. Select Views > +X+Y-Z > Up +Y.
6. Click (Save-Restore-Select Views) and select Store Current View.
7. Click the Simulation tab.
