What Is a Report-Based Monitor?
Report-based monitors are useful for monitoring quantities of engineering interest during a simulation. They provide a dynamic record of these quantities during solution iteration.
They may be viewed, either as the solution iterates, or after the solution has converged, using a monitor plot.
Any report can be used as the basis of a monitor. Report-based monitors can be important for judging convergence, and may be used as stopping criteria.
You can incorporate the data from a solution history into a report-based monitor. See Retrieving Transient Solution Data.
Similar to other objects, report-based monitors can be renamed within Simcenter STAR-CCM+. Report-based monitors can only be deleted if they are not displayed in an XY plot or used to define a stopping criterion.
When a report-based monitor is copied within a simulation, its properties are copied. You can only copy this object between simulation files if the destination simulation has a report of the same name.
