Monitoring Report Results on a Per-Part Basis
For a report-based monitor, you can instruct the monitor to capture results for some or all of the parts addressed by the underlying report.
You can also use an expression report to access parts in a user-defined field function. See Accessing Report Values and Co-located Field Function Values.
To define a monitor that captures parts-based values:
-
Ensure that the initial report from which you create the monitor is a report
that addresses multiple parts.
If a region is composed of multiple geometry parts, set the report to observe the geometry parts rather than the region.
- Right-click the report node and select Create Monitor and Plot from Report.
-
Select the resulting [monitor] node and set
Value Type to
Part Values.
The Parts sub-node appears with all report parts selected.
-
If you wish to monitor values for a subset of the report parts, select the
Parts sub-node and set Parts to the ones that you want to observe.
The plot associated with this monitor shows all the selected part report values along with the overall value of the report. To work with these values in the monitor plot, see instructions for controlling the appearance of selected part values in a monitor plot.
-
When you click a line on the monitor plot, you can identify the part to which
the line belongs.
The following report types do not yet support per-part value access:
- Boundary Parameter Sensitivity
- Element Count
- Frontal Area
- Generalized Vibratory Force
- Heat Exchanger (Single Stream and Dual Stream)
- Reaction Force (Finite Element and Finite Volume)
- Reaction Moment (Finite Volume only)
