Parameterizing Particle Shapes

The shape and proportion of the particle is controlled by the design parameters.

There are four particle shapes available under the Geometry node. Select Caplet and adjust the local size parameters on it.

To parameterize the particles:

  1. Expand the Geometry > 3D-CAD Models node.
The starting file provides 3D-CAD models for the domain and for four different shapes of particle.

  2. Right-click the 3D-CAD Models > 3D-CAD Model Caplet node and select Edit.

  3. In the 3D-CAD tab, expand the Design Parameters node.
The nodes under Design Parameters are the local parameters. Adjusting them affects only this caplet model. Global design parameters affect all the particle shape models; these are found under Automation > Parameters.
  4. Hover over the blue comment bubbles to see short descriptions of the parameters.

  5. Select the Design Parameters > del_h2H node and set Value to 4.0/7.0.
This setting adjusts the ratio of the height of the side band to the total height of the caplet.
  6. Click Update 3D-CAD.
Note the change in shape of the caplet in the scene.

  7. Click Close 3D-CAD.
  8. Save the simulation.
