Coarsening the Particle Shape Tessellation

The particle shape needs to be made simpler to reduce the run time of the simulation to a practical length.

To coarsen the particle shape tessellation:

  1. Right-click the 3D-CAD Models > 3D-CAD Model Caplet > Body Groups > Caplet node and select New Geometry Part.
  2. Click OK to accept the defaults.
  3. Select the Geometry > Parts > Caplet node and note the value for the Face Count property, givng the number of faces on the caplet surface, well over two thousand.
  4. Right-click the Caplet node and select Duplicate. Name the new copy Caplet Coarse.
  5. Right-click the Caplet Coarse node and select Repair Surface.
  6. Click OK to accept the defaults.

  7. Click (Select Zone), draw a polygon around the tablet, then right-click to select the entire caplet.
  8. Click the vertical dots of (Remesh selected faces).
  9. In the Remesh Faces Options panel, activate Specify Target Size and set Target Size to 15.0 mm.
This increases the face size, thereby reducing the number of faces needed.
  10. Click (Remesh selected faces).
The caplet shape in the scene changes to one with fewer faces.

Check the new face count value in the bottom left corner of the scene .

  11. Click Close.
  12. Save the simulation.
