  - Meshfree DEM: Excavator
    For DEM simulations of particles that are not significantly impacted by the surrounding fluid, Simcenter STAR-CCM+ allows you to model the particle behavior without requiring a volume mesh. This type of simulation is known as meshfree DEM.

An initial simulation file has been prepared for this simulation. Continue by loading this file and saving it under a different file name.

Launch Simcenter STAR-CCM+.
Select File > Load...
In the Load a File dialog, click Browse...
In the Open dialog, navigate to the DEM folder of the downloaded tutorial files.
Select arbitraryParticleShapes_start.sim and click Open .
In the Load a File dialog, click OK.
Save the simulation as arbitraryParticles.sim.
