This tutorial demonstrates how to use the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ Co-Simulation API (Application Programming Interface), in order to couple a partner program to a Simcenter STAR-CCM+ simulation. The partner simulation models the behavior of a spindle ball valve in response to a multiphase flow.
Running the Co-Simulation

In this case, data is exchanged at the end of each time-step, and a relatively large time-step is used to approximate a steady-state solution.

    This tutorial demonstrates how to carry out a mechanical co-simulation case using Simcenter STAR-CCM+ and Abaqus. Co-simulation involves a strong coupling between the two codes. Running the Co-Simulation

Couple the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ fluid simulation to the ball valve simulation and run the co-simulation.

Select the External Links > Link 1 > Values > Simcenter STAR-CCM+ Partner Host:Port node.
In the Properties window, click (Custom Editor).
In the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ Partner Host:Port dialog, select the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ server named spindleValve_solid (Linux) or spindleValveImplicit_solid (Windows), then click OK.
The fluid simulation is now connected to the partner code through the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ API Server.
In the fluid simulation, click (Run).
Information on the co-simulation process is displayed in both the fluid simulation Output window and the terminal where you launched the partner code.

To monitor the solution progress during the co-simulation:

Right-click the Plots node and select Open All Plots.
