Selecting the Physics Models

The initial simulation includes a physics continuum with preselected physics models. These models account for the liquid that flows across the check valve. For FMU co-simulation with Simcenter Amesim, you require an additional physics continuum that represents the FMU model.

To create an external physics continuum for FMI coupling:
  1. Right-click the Continua node and select New Physics Continuum.
  2. For the physics continuum Physics 2, select the following models in order:
    Group Box Model
    Optional Models External Continuum
    External Application (automatically selected)
    External Application FMI
    Network Topology (automatically selected)
    Time Implicit Unsteady
  3. Click Close.
  4. Right-click and rename Physics 1 to Fluid (Internal).
  5. Repeat the previous step for Physics 2, renaming it to FMU (External).

To represent the external FMU model in Simcenter STAR-CCM+, you also require an additional region:
  1. Right-click the Regions node and select New > Region.
  2. Rename Region 1 to External Region.
  3. Select the External Region node and set Physics Continuum to FMU (External).
  4. Save the simulation.
