Downloading the ODB++ Extraction Package
For the import of ODB++ files in the Electronics Cooling Toolset, you must download an ODB++ extraction package from Support Center.
This extraction package provided by Mentor Graphics allows the Electronics Cooling Toolset to read the ODB++ database by creating the following files:
- An IDF file pair that contain the layout definitions of the board and its components
- A set of images that accounts for the metal traces in each layer of the board
- An XML file that details the stackup of the layers in the board
To create these files, the Electronics Cooling Toolset uses the platform specific temporary directory:
- For Linux: /tmp (if the environment variable TMPDIR is not set)
- For Windows: the directory set by the %TMP% user environment variable
If you have no write permission on the respective temporary directory, you must set an alternative directory. Do not use any trailing slashes when setting the environment variable.
