Setting Boundary and Interface Conditions

Follow these steps to define the physical conditions on the surface of a QuickPart.

Most QuickParts have only one QuickPart Surface by default. If you want to set different boundary or interface conditions on specific faces of a QuickPart—like inflow, outflow, and wall conditions on the surface of an extracted air volume—you must split the default surface first. See Splitting a QuickPart Surface.

For a problem to be well-posed, boundary conditions must be specified on all solution domain boundaries. Interface conditions describe the physical effects between contacting QuickParts.

To set boundary and interface conditions on a specific QuickPart Surface:

  1. Right-click the respective QuickPart Surface node and select Edit.
  2. In the Edit dialog, set the boundary and interface properties to suit your simulation.
  3. To visualize the faces that correspond to the boundary or interfaces of the QuickPart Surface, click Highlight in the respective group box.
  4. Click Apply and Close.
