Selecting the Physics Models and Defining the Gas Phase

You model the unsteady two-way coupled flow of air and solid particles by using the Gas model with constant density together with the Discrete Element model, which is part of the Lagrangian Multiphase framework.

You use the default material properties of air, but parametrize the fluid density to allow for easy modifications if required.
To select the physics models:
  1. For the physics continuum Continua > Physics 1, select the following models, in order:
    Group Box Model
Enabled Models Three Dimensional (selected automatically)
    Material Gas
    Flow Coupled Flow
    Gradients (selected automatically)
    Equation of State Constant Density
    Time Implicit Unsteady
    Viscous Regime Laminar
    Optional Models Gravity
    Lagrangian Multiphase
    Discrete Element Model (DEM)
    Multiphase Interaction (selected automatically)
  2. Select the Continua > Physics 1 > Models > Gas > Air > Material Properties > Density > Constant node and set Value to ${Fluid Density}.
  3. Save the simulation.
