Injecting the Coarse Grain Particles

You create an injector to randomly inject particles into the reactor. The part selected for the injector input is the Injection Volume geometry part, created on the starting file. This restricts the injection to exclusively that region of the reactor. The injector injects parcels into the Injection Volume with a distribution close to the random packing of particles expected in a real reactor. The parcels are injected at a velocity of -0.1 m/s in the negative Z direction.

To set up the injector:
  1. Right-click the Injectors node and select New.
  2. Select the Injectors > Injector 1 node and set the following values:
    Property Value
    Lagrangian Phase Particle
    Type Random Injector
    Inputs Parts > Injection Volume
  3. Select the Injector 1 > Conditions > Particle Packing Specification node and set Method to Particle Count.
  4. Select the Injector 1 > Values node and set the following values:
    Node Value
    Number of Seeds ${Parcel Number}*12
    Number of Particles ${Parcel Number}
    Particle Count ${Particle Count}
    Particle Diameter ${Particle Diameter}
    Velocity [0.0, 0.0, -0.1] m/s
  5. Save the simulation.
