Loading the Starting Simulation

For this tutorial, you are provided with a simulation file containing pre-defined objects: the die geometry, mesh operations, and the die region (including the boundary types).

You start this tutorial by loading the starting simulation file and executing the meshing pipeline.
To load the starting simulation:
  1. Launch a double precision version of Simcenter STAR-CCM+ and select File > Load.
  2. In the Load a File dialog:
    1. Click Browse....
    2. In the Open dialog, navigate to the multiphaseFlow folder of the downloaded tutorial files and select twoLayerPipe_start.sim.
    3. Click Open, then OK.
You generate the mesh using the pre-defined mesh operations:
  1. Right-click the Geometry > Operations > Directed Mesh node and select Execute.
  2. To visualize the mesh, open the Scenes > Mesh scene.

The mesh is refined towards the outlet of the die to ensure good resolution of the interface between the inner and the outer phase in this area.

  3. Save the simulation as twoLayerPipe.sim.
