Interactions
Within Simcenter STAR-CCM+ In-cylinder, an interaction allows you to remove volume from an Engine Part, to cut holes through Engine Parts, or to split an Engine Part Surface.
Interaction | Example | ||
---|---|---|---|
Subtract | Allows you to remove the volume of one or more objects from the selected Engine Part. The subtracted objects are retained. Each object must share some of its volume with the Engine Part, otherwise the Engine Part remains unchanged.

Extrude Cut Through All | Allows you to project one or more sheet geometries in the normal direction so that they cut holes through the selected Engine Part. The three-dimensional objects that are formed by projecting the sheet geometries are subtracted from the Engine Part.

Extrude Cut Through First Segment | Allows you to project one or more sheet geometries in the normal direction so that they cut holes through the selected Engine Part. The three-dimensional objects that are formed by projecting the sheet geometries are subtracted from the first segment of the Engine Part.

Imprint | Allows you to imprint the profile of one or more sheet geometries onto the surface of the selected Engine Part. The surface is split where the new lines are added. The Engine Part and the sheet geometries must overlap by less than
1.0E-8 m, or have coincident faces, as otherwise the Engine Part remains unchanged.
This property allows you to create new Engine Part Surfaces on which you can specify custom mesh settings or physics conditions.
