Creating a New Simulation from a Template

Create a new simulation file and specifiy the template for the simulation using the one provided in the downloaded tutorial files.

  1. Before launching Simcenter STAR-CCM+, extract the contents of the zip folders downloaded for this tutorial:
    1. Navigate to the automation folder of the downloaded tutorial files.
    2. Copy UnitedDuct.dbs and HVACduct_template.simt to your working directory.
    3. Extract the contents of WrapperInput.zip and ParameterizedCSWrapperInput.zip to your working directory.
To create a new simulation from the simulation template:
  1. Launch Simcenter STAR-CCM+ and select File > New....
  2. In the Create a File dialog, click Select....
  3. Navigate to your working directory and select HVACduct_template.simt.
  4. Click Open and OK.
  5. Save the simulation as unifiedHVACduct.sim.
To visualize the inflow volume and test chamber volume contained within the simulation template:
  1. Open the Scenes > 01_Input Geometry scene.

  2. To view the mesh operations within the template, expand the Geometry > Operations node.

The inputs of the mesh operations are defined using tag based predicates. After you import the geometry and assign the tags, the mesh operations have the inputs they require.
