Placement

The Electronics Cooling Toolset offers various positioning capabilities for Construction Geometries and QuickParts.

To define the placement of a geometry, the following options are available:
  • Specifying the Placement properties

You define the location and orientation of the geometry with respect to a selected coordinate system.

  • Using the Positioning Tool

The Positioning Tool allows you to place geometries in reference to each other.

The following placement properties are common to all types of Construction Geometries and QuickParts:
Placement
Location
Specifies the position vector (X, Y, Z) of the geometry's Local Origin, in the selected Coordinate System.
The Local Origin is a Geometry property of the respective Construction Geometry or QuickPart.
NoteFor a Custom QuickPart, the local origin corresponds to the local origin of the underlying Construction Geometry, by default.
You can change the local origin of a Construction Object or QuickPart interactively within the Graphics window, see Placing Objects Interactively.
Rotation Axis Vector
Specifies the direction vector (X, Y, Z) of the axis about which you rotate the geometry, in the selected Coordinate System. The axis position, or the origin of the axis, is the geometry's Local Origin.
Angle
Specifies the angle of rotation.
Coordinate System
Specifies the reference coordinate system for the geometry's Location and Rotation Axis Vector. See X_ref, Y_ref, Z_ref in the Graphics window.
Position
Launches the Positioning Tool, that allows you to interactively place the geometry in reference to other geometries.
