3D-CAD: Freeform Surface Deformation
Freeform surface deformation allows you to change the shape of underlying CAD surfaces. Here, you use the freeform tool to change the shape of the lower element on a rear wing from a race car.
With this tool, you can make large changes to create curvilinear shapes or small changes to refine a design. As changes that you make are stored in the freeform feature in the feature tree, you can subsequently revert back to the original shape by suppressing the feature.
The freeform surface tool operates using control points that you move using displacement vectors. The freeform tool offers full support for parametrizing the freeform surface through vector or scalar parameters. You can create and use vector parameters as well as scalar parameters. Scalar parameters are important because allow you to control a particular direction in a vector using a single value in the design parameter.
