Placement
Simcenter STAR-CCM+ In-cylinder offers various positioning capabilities for geometries.
- Specifying the
Placement properties
You define the location and orientation of the geometry with respect to a selected coordinate system.
- Using the
Positioning Tool
The Positioning Tool allows you to place geometries in reference to each other.
The following Placement properties are common to all types of geometries:
- Location
- Specifies the position vector (X, Y, Z) of the geometry's Local Origin, in the selected Coordinate System.
- Rotation Axis Vector
- Specifies the direction vector (X, Y, Z) of the axis about which you rotate the geometry, in the selected Coordinate System. The axis position, or the origin of the axis, is the geometry's Local Origin.
- Angle
- Specifies the angle of rotation.
- Coordinate System
- Specifies the reference coordinate system for the geometry's Location and Rotation Axis Vector. See X_ref, Y_ref, Z_ref in the Graphics window.
- Position
- Launches the Positioning Tool, which allows you to interactively place the geometry in reference to other geometries.
