Vizualizing Concentration and Molar Flux Distribution of Oxygen

To compare the mole fraction of oxygen alongside the consumption of oxygen on the cathode triple-phase boundary (TPB), you set up a scalar scene for each quantity.

  1. Create two scalar scenes and rename them Mole Fraction O2 and Reaction Flux O2.
  2. Expand the Mole Fraction O2 > Scalar 1 node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Setting
    Parts Parts Regions > cathode > Boundaries > mem-Interface [cathode-TPB]
Scalar Field Function Mole Fraction > Mole Fraction of O2
    Color Bar Orientation Vertical
  3. Right-click the Mole Fraction O2 node and select New Displayer > Surface.
  4. Edit the Mole Fraction O2 > Surface 1 node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Setting
    Surface 1 Surface Activated
    Color Mode Constant
    Parts Parts
All boundaries and part curves in the following regions:
    • air
    • currentcollector-anode
    • currentcollector-cathode
    • tube-anode
    • tube-cathode
  5. Copy the Surface 1 node and paste it in the Reaction Flux O2 node.
The Boundary Species Electrochemical Reaction Flux of O2 field function is used to display the consumption of oxygen in kmols / area at the cathode TPB.
  1. Expand the Reaction Flux O2 > Scalar 1 node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Setting
    Parts Parts Regions > cathode > Boundaries > mem-Interface [cathode-TPB]
Scalar Field Function Boundary Species Electrochemical Reaction Flux > Boundary Species Electrochemical Reaction Flux of O2
    Color Bar Orientation Vertical
  2. Save the Simulation.
