Setting Up the Regions and Interfaces
You specify which continua each of the regions use, and define the properties and values for each region.
To set up the regions and interfaces:
-
Edit the
Regions node and set the following properties:
Node Property Setting air Physics Continuum Air anode Physics Continuum Fuel cathode Physics Continuum Air currentcollector-anode Physics Continuum CCanode currentcollector-cathode Physics Continuum CCcathode fuel Physics Continuum Fuel tube-anode Physics Continuum Tubes tube-cathode Physics Continuum Tubes -
Create a shell region at the triple phase boundary (TPB) interface between the
porous anode and the solid oxide electrolyte membrane.
- Rename the anode-TPB. node to
- Rename the Interface to cathode. node to
-
Multi-select the following nodes, then right-click one of the selected nodes
and select Create
Interface.
- Rename the newly created cathode-TPB. node to
-
Assign the porous phases to the anode and cathode regions:
- Select the Regions to cathode. node and set
- Select the Regions to anode. node and set
The solid parts of the porous anode
and cathode are conducting, therefore, values must be specified for the solid
electrical and thermal conductivities.

Edit the
node and set the following properties:
Node Property Setting Porosity Value 0.3 Porous Viscous Resistance Method Isotropic Tensor Value 887.789 kg/m^3-s -
Edit the
node and set the following properties:
Node Property Setting Porosity Value 0.7 Porous Viscous Resistance Method Isotropic Tensor Value 1855.08 kg/m^3-s - Save the simulation.
