Setting Up the Porous Phases

You create the anode and cathode porous phases and select the relevant phase models.

To define the porous cathode and anode:
  1. Right-click the Continua > Air > Models > Porous Media > Porous Phases node and select New.
  2. Rename the Porous Phases > Phase 1 node conductor-cathode.
  3. For the conductor-cathode phase, select the following models in order:
    Group Box Models
Enabled Models Phase Reacting Model (selected automatically)
    Material Solid
    Equation of State Constant Density
    Optional Models Electromagnetism
    Electromagnetism Electrodynamic Potential (selected automatically)
  4. Select the Ohmic Heating model within the Air continuum.
    1. Right-click the Continua > Air node and select Select Models.
    2. In the Optional Models group box, select Ohmic Heating.
    3. Click Close.
  5. Right-click the Continua > Fuel > Models > Porous Media > Porous Phases node and select New.
  6. Rename the Porous Phases > Phase 1 node conductor-anode.
  7. For the conductor-anode phase, select the following models in order:
    Group Box Models
Enabled Models Phase Reacting Model (selected automatically)
    Material Solid
    Equation of State Constant Density
    Optional Models Electromagnetism
    Electromagnetism Electrodynamic Potential (selected automatically)
  8. Select the Ohmic Heating model within the Fuel continuum.
    1. Right-click the Continua > Fuel node and select Select Models.
    2. In the Optional Models group box, select Ohmic Heating.
    3. Click Close.
  9. Save the simulation.
