Specifying Custom Surface Controls

Apply custom mesh settings to the train engine, wheels, and rails boundaries to make sure a suitably fine mesh around the train and the rails is generated.

Create a Surface Control to define custom mesh settings for the engine and wheels:
  1. Right-click the Automated Mesh > Custom Controls node and select New > Surface Control.
  2. Rename Surface Control to Engine and Wheels.
  3. Edit the Engine and Wheels node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Setting
Engine and Wheels Part Surfaces TrainEngine
    Wheels
    TrainEngineRear
    Controls
Target Surface Size Target Surface Size Specify Custom Value
Minimum Surface Size Minimum Surface Size Specify Custom Value
    Values
Target Surface Size Percentage of Base 3
Minimum Surface Size Percentage of Base 3
In a similar way, specify a custom surface size for the Rails surface:
  1. Create a new Surface Control and rename it to Rails.
  2. Edit the Rails node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Setting
    Rails Part Surfaces Rails
    Controls
Target Surface Size Target Surface Size Specify Custom Value
Minimum Surface Size Minimum Surface Size Specify Custom Value
    Values
Target Surface Size Percentage of Base 7
Minimum Surface Size Percentage of Base 7
