Setting up Overset Mesh with Lagrangian Multiphase
When combining overset mesh with Lagrangian two-way coupling, you are advised to activate the following overset interface properties:
- Alternate Hole Cutting
- Close Proximity
When you apply two-phase coupling in a Lagrangian simulation, the particles influence the flow field. See also: Lagrangian multiphase simulation with two-way coupling.
This influence depends on the number of particles that are present. In the area where background mesh and overset mesh overlap—the overlapping zone—the cells from each mesh cover the same space. The influence of a particle that enters the overlapping zone is distributed between the cells from the background mesh and the overset mesh in the same location. Therefore, the influence of that particle on the flow field in the overlapping zone is lower than in the non-overlapping portion of the mesh. Activating Alternate Hole Cutting and Close Proximity reduces this effect and also improves the calculation of particle volume fraction.
Note | When using overset for VOF Lagrangian interaction, parcels' sources for mass, momentum, and energy are distributed to acceptor cells and transferred correctly to the VOF phase. |
