Setting up the Adjoint Cost Function
A cost function represents the objective of the adjoint simulation with respect to a quantity of engineering interest. For this tutorial, the target quantity for reduction is the total pressure drop along the S-bend duct.
As a cost function requires an underlying report, you first create the report for total pressure drop across the system.
To set up the pressure drop cost function:
- Right-click the node and select .
- Select the Total Pressure Drop node and rename it to
-
Select the
node and set the following properties:
Property Setting High Pressure [Fluid:Inlet] Low Pressure [Fluid:Outlet] -
Right-click the
node and select .
A
sub-node is created. - Rename the cost function Report to PressureDrop.
- Select the Report to Total Pressure Drop . node and set
