Exporting a Part

This section describes how to export leaf-level parts.

Leaf-level parts can be exported as surface mesh files using any of the following formats:

  • pro-STAR database file (.dbs)
  • Stereolithography (.stl)
  • NASTRAN shells (.nas)
  • PATRAN shells (.pat)
  • pro-STAR shell input (.cel/.vrt/.inp)
  • FELISA Front Surface (.fro)
  • JT Open (.jt)

When exporting 3D-CAD, CAD, and shape parts, the current tessellation that is specified for the surface is used.

3D-CAD parts can also be exported as Parasolid Transmit files from within the 3D-CAD modeler.

To export a part:

  1. Right-click the part node and select Export... from the pop-up menu:


    The Save dialog appears. You can only save one part at a time using this method.



  2. Specify a directory for the file.
  3. In the File Name filed, enter a suitable name.
  4. From the Files of Type field, select the file format.
  5. Click Save.
