Creating Part Contacts and Generating Volume Mesh

Before executing the mesh pipeline, you must create weak in-place contacts that connect the inlet, and outlet parts to the gerotor volume. These contacts become interfaces under regions.

  1. To create a contact between inlet and gerotor volume, underneath Parts, multi-select the Inlet > Surfaces > interface node and PumpFluid > Inherited Parts > Outer > top node, right-click on any of them and select Create Weak In-Place Contact.
  2. To create a contact between outlet and gerotor volume, repeat the previous step but with the Outlet > Surfaces > interface and PumpFluid > Inherited Parts > Outer > top nodes instead.
Before generating the volume mesh for the parts, you assign the PumpFluid part to a region:
  1. Right-click the Parts > PumpFluid node and select Assign Parts to Regions.
  2. In the Assign Parts to Regions dialog, select the following options:
    Setting
Create a Region for Each Part
Create a Boundary for Each Part Surface
Create Boundary-mode Interfaces From Contacts (activated automatically)

The weak contacts are transformed to boundary interfaces, which are matched after every time step of the transient run.

  3. Click Apply then Close.
  4. To generate the volume meshes, right-click the Operations node and select Execute All.

The generated mesh is shown as follows:

  5. Save the simulation.
