Updating Part Interfaces

Updating part interfaces between two regions becomes necessary when one or more interfacing parts have been modified or have changed region.

In these cases, the original interface that existed between the two regions is now obsolete. If a part (or part surface) has been modified, perform an imprint before updating the interfaces.

There are two methods you can use to update part interfaces: using the Parts manager node, or right-clicking the desired part. In both cases, Simcenter STAR-CCM+ checks part contacts, ensuring that appropriate interfaces exist where needed, and that interfaces that are no longer valid are removed.

To update interfaces:
  1. Right-click the Parts manager node, or the desired part, and select the appropriate option:
    • For boundary mode interfaces, select Update Interfaces > Update Boundary-mode Interfaces.
    • For contact mode interfaces, select Update Interfaces > Update Contact-mode Interfaces.

Updating interfaces using the Parts manager node ensures that all existing parts have up-to-date interfaces. This method is the recommended way to ensure that all interfaces in the case are up-to-date. Updating interfaces by right-clicking individual parts checks and updates only the interfaces affecting the selected parts.
