Co-Simulation Zones Reference
Co-simulation zones allow you to couple Simcenter STAR-CCM+ boundaries with the partner GT-SUITE CFD connections.
Zones Manager Properties
- Number of Zones
- Displays the number of zones defined for this link. Read-only.
Zones Manager Right-Click Actions
- New
- Adds a co-simulation zone under the Zones node. For coupling to be successful, the name of a co-simulation zone must match the name of the corresponding GT-SUITE CFD connection.
Zone Properties
- Index
- Displays a unique identifier for this zone. Read-only.
- Zone Type
- Specifies what type of Simcenter STAR-CCM+ objects are assigned to this co-simulation zone. The available option is Surface Zone, which allows you to couple Simcenter STAR-CCM+ boundaries to their surface counterparts in the partner simulation (surface-to-surface coupling).
Zone Conditions and Values
- Coupled Model Parts
- Displays the parts on the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ model that exchange data with the partner simulation, through this co-simulation zone. As this type of co-simulation only supports surface-to-surface coupling, the coupled model parts can only be boundaries.
- GT-SUITE Zone Data
- Displays the settings defined for the coupled CFD connection in
GT-SUITE. As these settings are defined in
GT-SUITE, all the properties are read-only:
- Area: displays the CFD cross-section that is specified for the coupled CFD connection in GT-SUITE (read-only).
- ID: displays the ID number that is given to the CFD connection within the GT-SUITE case (read-only). This index is not used to match the co-simulation zone with the corresponding CFD connection. Co-simulation zones and CFD connections are matched by name.
- Sampling Length: displays the length of the sampling volume across which Simcenter STAR-CCM+ averages the computed fields before sending them to GT-SUITE. The sampling volume length is defined in GT-SUITE (read-only).
