The Slide Out Panel

The slide out panel, located on the right-hand side of the Graphics window, contains the diagnostics and search options of the Surface Repair tool.

By default, the diagnostics options are displayed in the slide out panel.

Click on the relevant radio button to change the mode of the slide out panel:
  • Surface — displays the diagnostics options for the tessellated surfaces.
  • Feature — displays the diagnostics options for the part curves. This panel contains a similar layout, and options, to the Surface mode.
  • Search — displays the search options. The search mode allows you to create filters using predicates to search for specific features and attributes on the tessellated geometry. Tagging search results allows you to organize the tessellated geometry in preparation for the simulation.

The Diagnostics Panel

The diagnostic function of the slide out panel contains a list of thresholds and issues with the surfaces that the Surface Repair tool identifies.

The diagnostics slide out, located on the right-hand side of the Graphics window, contains a list of thresholds and issues with the surfaces that the Surface Repair tool identifies. By default, the diagnostics are not executed. To calculate and display all enabled diagnostics, click Execute All.

The tool analyzes the surfaces for errors and displays the results in the Diagnostics slide out. The Execute All button is no longer needed at this stage because the results are always displayed and update in real-time. You can manage what thresholds are displayed in the Geometry window with the Manage feature. See Repairing Surfaces and Custom Threshold Options.

The surface repair diagnostics tool can display results from each threshold diagnostic in three different interaction modes:

  • Combined — is a mix of per-part diagnostics and part to part diagnostics, and applies to all threshold diagnostics (default and user-defined).
  • Per-part/Per-region — only shows diagnostic results that are caused by or relate to the individual part in the absence of all other parts. All threshold diagnostics produce a per-part result. For example, in the case of pierced faces, if the part intersects itself then it will produce a per-part pierced face result. Similarly for proximity, if the part has faces in close proximity to itself, it will produce a per-part result.
  • Part to part/Region to region — only shows diagnostic results that are due to the interaction of two or more parts. Only three diagnostics are relevant to this mode: Pierced faces, Close proximity faces, and Duplicate faces. All other diagnostics are hidden from the scene and the slide out in this mode.

For more specific information on how the interaction modes affect each diagnostic, see Surface Repair Error Categories.

The Search Panel

The search function of the Surface Repair is located inside the slide out panel. In the diagnostics slide out panel, click the Search radio button to switch to the search panel. All options that are relevant to the search functionality are located here.

The search tool uses predicates to define filters and find specific features on discretized surfaces. Click Manage to manage the search filters in the Create/Modify Search Filters panel. See The Search Tool Workflow.

Controlling the Size of the Slide Out Panel

While you cannot close the diagnostics slide out, you can modify the size of the panel:
  • To reduce the size of the slide out and show summary information only, click .

  • To minimize the size of the slide out, click .

  • To open the slide out or maximize its size, click .
