Organizing Discretized Geometry
The search capability of the Surface Repair tool is a powerful feature that helps you organise and prepare discretized geometry for simulation.
Discretized, or tessellated, surfaces do not contain any metadata, and are inherently difficult to organize. Using the search functionality of the Surface Repair tool, you can search for specific face-based features and attributes on the discretized surface using predicates. Predicates are used to create filters that you can build up using logical arguments. You can use any number of predicates together in a single filter item, and have multiple filter items in parallel to categorise the search results. Each search filter returns its own set of search results, which you can then isolate, select, and tag to use outside the Surface Repair tool.
Consider a wheel assembly from a car, where, for example, the nuts and bolts on the wheel are of no interest. With the search functionality, you can find the volume of these parts using the query tools, search for these parts using their volume, isolate them, then tag them. The tag is maintained outside of the Surface Repair tool.
