Local Mean Vote

Local Mean Vote (LMV) is an empirically derived thermal comfort index that can be used to assess local thermal comfort in a given environment. In TCM, LMV is predicted using correlations that accept a resultant skin temperature as input.

For each body part, TCM computes a resultant skin temperature T R S T based on the predicted heat flow from that part. Using the correlations of Mayer and Schwab [7], LMV is computed for that body part. An example expression is:

LMV torso = 0.216 T R S T , torso 6.7
