Thermoregulatory Heat Production
When the body temperature drops, the skeletal muscles are activated. This process is called shivering and serves to maintain the inner temperature.
The global controlled variable for shivering is given by:
Analogous to the other thermo-regulatory controlled variables, the global controlled signal for shivering is transferred to the local controller and is multiplied by a controller constant to obtain the local portion of the heat production:
