Setting up the Overset Mesh

Now, you specify the mesh settings for the overset mesh.

To set up the overset mesh:
  1. Copy and paste the Background Mesh node onto the Operations node and rename the copy to Overset Mesh.
  2. Select the Operations > Overset Mesh node and set Input Parts to Overset.
  3. Select the Operations > Overset Mesh > Meshers > Prism Layer Mesher node and set Distribution Mode to Wall Thickness.
  4. Edit the Operations > Overset Mesh > Default Controls > Prism Layer Controls node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Setting
Prism Layer Controls Number of Prism Layers 15
Prism Layer Near Wall Thickness 1.0E-4 m
Prism Layer Controls > Prism Layer Total Thickness Percentage of Base 15.0
  5. Rename the Operations > Overset Mesh > Custom Controls > Volumetric Control node to Overlap.
You can reuse the volumetric control that you created for the background mesh.
  6. Following the same procedure as for the background mesh, create three additional new volumetric controls and give them the following names:
    • Airfoil.
    • Leading Edge.
    • Trailing Edge.
  7. In the Controls node of all four volumetric controls, set the following properties:
    Node Property Setting
    Surface Remesher Customize Size Activated
    Trimmer Customize isotropic size Activated
  8. For each volumetric control, select the following parts and the following values for Values > Custom Size:
Volumetric Control Part Percentage of Base
    Overlap Overlap 12.5
    Airfoil Airfoil 5.0
    Leading Edge Leading Edge 1.0
    Trailing Edge Trailing Edge 2.0
