RCR Table Values Imported From .tbm Files

3D battery cell models in Simcenter Battery Design Studio are not directly compatible with the 0D battery cell model in Simcenter STAR-CCM+. The 3D battery cell models compute network resistance internally within the Simcenter Battery Design Studio model. For 0D battery cell models in Simcenter Battery Design Studio, network resistance is included in the parameters values of the derived tables and is implicitly considered in the fitted parameters.

In .tbm files from 0D RCR table models in Simcenter Battery Design Studio, the values that are specified in the table data for the series resistance and the polarization resistance are modified upon import to Simcenter STAR-CCM+ so that they are defined as shown below:
Ro, modified
Figure 1. EQUATION_DISPLAY
R o , mod i f i e d [ O h m ] = R o [ O h m m 2 ] A c t i v e A r e a [ m 2 ] + R n e t w o r k [ O h m ]
(4408)

Figure 2. EQUATION_DISPLAY
R p , mod i f i e d [ O h m ] = R p [ O h m m 2 ] A c t i v e A r e a [ m 2 ]
(4409)
The network resistance is also known as the ohmic resistance of the cell, and is calculated as:
Figure 3. EQUATION_DISPLAY
R n e t w o r k = Q o h m I 2
(4410)
where Q o h m is the ohmic heat that is released from the cell, and I is the current through the cell.

In .tbm files from Simcenter Battery Design Studio 3D RCR table models, the network resistance R n e t w o r k is computed as part of the model. Tables from 3D models do not include this R n e t w o r k value. Therefore, it is necessary that this parameter is estimated and the table data from 3D models is adjusted using this estimated value.
