Visualizing the Wave Pattern
You can plot the elevation of the free water surface to get a good visual representation of the wake that the hull produces as it moves through the water.
To create a contour plot of the elevation of the water surface:
- Right-click the Scenes node and select .
- Rename Scalar Scene 1 as Waves.
-
Create an iso-surface for the volume fraction of water at a value of 0.5:
A value of 0.5 for the water volume fraction means that a computational cell is filled with 50% of water and, consequently, 50% of air. Therefore, this value gives the position of the water-air-interface corresponding to the free surface.
- Click Scene/Plot.
- Select the Scalar 1 node.
-
In the
Scalar 1 - Properties window:
- Set Contour Style to Smooth Filled + Lines.
- Set Transform to Tank.Symmetry 1.
- Select the OK. node and set Parts to . Click
- Select the node and set Function to
- Select the Outline 1 node and de-activate Outline.
- Select the node.
-
In the
Parts - Properties window:
-
Click
(Custom Editor) next to Parts.
- Expand KCS. and select all boundaries with the prefix
- Expand Derived Parts and select Isosurface.
-
Click
OK.
