Setting Up Film Stripping to a Eulerian Phase

To model film stripping to a Eulerian phase in a Eulerian Multiphase (EMP) simulation, you set up a Film-EMP phase interaction with the relevant Eulerian phases and fluid film phase. You then activate the Stripping model.

Make sure that you have defined:

  • An Implicit Unsteady, PISO Unsteady, or Steady simulation.

Both wave stripping and edge stripping are supported for Implicit Unsteady and PISO Unsteady simulations. However, for Steady simulations, only edge stripping is supported.

  • A Eulerian Multiphase (EMP) simulation with the Fluid Film model activated.

  • The relevant Eulerian phases and fluid film phases defined.

Both the dispersed Eulerian phase and the fluid film phase must be a single-component liquid: multi-component phases are not supported.

Both the AMUSIG and S-Gamma particle size distribution can be used for the dispersed Eulerian phase. However, for the S-Gamma size distribution, only the Two-Equation option is available. See S-Gamma Model Reference.

To model film stripping in a Eulerian Multiphase (EMP) simulation:

  1. Create a Film-EMP Phase Interaction with the appropriate dispersed Eulerian phase and fluid film phase.
  2. Set up the Film-EMP phase interaction:
    1. In the Phase Interaction Model Selection dialog, activate the Stripping model.
    2. Select the Stripping node and set Stripping Option to activate either or both Wave Stripping and Edge Stripping.
  3. Set the Wave Stripping model properties and Edge Stripping model properties.
