Setting Up the Valve Motions
For the motion of the valves, you import tables that describe the valve lifts as a function of crank angle.
- Right-click the Edit. node and select
- In the Edit dialog, next to the Valve Lift File drop-down menu, click Import.
- In the Import Valve Lift Table dialog, navigate to the inCylinder folder of the downloaded tutorial files.

Select
exhaustValve1_vlift.csv and click
Open.
In the Graphics window, a Valve Lifts plot opens, which displays the valve lift as a function of crank angle.
- Click Apply, then Close.
To define the motion for the intake valve:
- Right-click the Edit. node and select

Using the same procedure as for the exhaust valve (Steps 2 - 5), define the
valve lift using the file intakeValve1_vlift.csv.
The Valve Lifts plot displays the lift curves for the exhaust and intake valves:
