Aiding Solution Convergence

To aid solution convergence, you move the valve curtain interfaces to a position that is more suitable for this engine geometry.

The valve curtain interfaces are the curved surface areas that are located on the surfaces of the valves; they separate the cylinder volume from the port volumes. See Valves Opening and Closing.

To move the valve curtain interfaces:

  1. Right-click the Engine > Exhaust Valve 1 node and select Edit.
  2. In the Edit dialog, click Mesh Settings.
The Graphics window displays the valve curtain interface for the exhaust valve in yellow color.
  3. Set Normalized Curtain Interface Position to 55.0.
  4. To preview the valve curtain interface in the Graphics window, click Apply.
  5. Click Close.
  6. Repeat Steps 1 - 5 for the Engine > Intake Valve 1 node.
  7. Save the simulation .
