Preparing the Plots and Scenes for Visualization

Simcenter STAR-CCM+ In-cylinder provides several plots and scenes by default. To watch the solution develop, open the plots for cylinder turbulence kinetic energy and tumble-y. Also open the scenes for velocity magnitude and absolute pressure. Write the scenes to image files at regular intervals.

To open the plots:
  1. Right-click the Results > Plots > In-Cylinder - Cylinder > Cylinder : Turbulence Kinetic Energy node and select Open.
In the Graphics window, the Cylinder : Turbulence Kinetic Energy plot opens and displays the mass-averaged turbulence kinetic energy in the cylinder as a function of crank angle.
  2. Repeat Step 1 for the Results > Plots > In-Cylinder - Cylinder > Cylinder : Tumble-Y node.
This plot displays the tumble about the y-axis as a function of crank angle.
To open the scenes and write them to image files:
  1. Using <Ctrl>, multi-select the Results > Scenes > Absolute Pressure and Velocity Magnitude nodes.
  2. Right-click and select Open.
The scenes open in the Graphics window.
  3. Right-click the selected nodes again and select Edit.
  4. In the Multiple Objects dialog, activate Attributes > Update > Save To File.
By default, Simcenter STAR-CCM+ In-cylinder writes the scenes to files after each crank angle.
  5. Click Close.
  6. Save the simulation .
