Vorticity Confinement Model Reference
The Vorticity Confinement Model adds a force term to the momentum equations to prevent the rapid dissipation of vortices. It allows you to track isolated vortices over long distances.

Vorticity Confinement Model Properties
- Verbosity
- When On, Simcenter STAR-CCM+ reports additional information in the Output window while the simulation is running. This option is useful for debugging problems.
- Temporary Storage Retained
- When On, Simcenter STAR-CCM+ retains additional field data that the solver generates during an iteration. The particular data retained depends on the solver, and becomes available as field functions during subsequent iterations. Off by default.
- Non-Dimensional Wall Distance Coefficient
- Prevents the vorticity confinement term from acting inside boundary layers ( in Eqn. (870)).
- Model Coefficient
- Tunes the strength of vorticity confinement ( in Eqn. (866)).
Field Functions
- Vorticity Confinement Non-Dimensional Wall-Distance
- The non-dimensional wall distance given by Eqn. (869).
- Vorticity Confinement Specific Force
- The vorticity confinement force given by Eqn. (865).
