Setting the Electromotive Force Density

The Electromotive Force Density ρϵ is a user-specified contribution to the electric field within a specified region.

Transient electromagnetic effects such as magnetic induction produce a contribution to the electric field, and hence contribute to the electric current density. The electromotive force density (ρϵ in Eqn. (4277)) is specified as the Electromotive Force Source vector profile within a region.

To define the Electromotive Force Source within a region:

  1. Select the Electromotive Force Source Option node within the Physics Conditions folder for the region.
  2. In the Properties window, activate Electromotive Force User Source Option.

The corresponding node, Electromotive Force Source, is added to the Physics Values folder for the region.

  3. Set the appropriate physics value.

The Electromotive Force Source is specified as a vector profile.

When using per-part values, you can use a similar procedure to override region values on specific boundaries. See Boundary Settings: Electromotive Force Source.
